At the US state level, California's Fair Employment and Housing Act prohibits associated discrimination. The New York City Administrative Code also regulates the prohibition of discrimination against a person because of his or her actual or perceived race, creed, colour, origin, disability, age, sexual orientation or identity and citizenship, or on the basis of any of these characteristics of a third person with whom the disadvantaged person is associated.
