There is scarce representative data on experiences of discrimination due to chronic diseases. However, sufferers speak out about the discrimination that they experience, for example at counseling centers or relative organizations. These reports show that people suffering from HIV infection, mental illness or obesity experience discrimination in everyday life. Chronically ill people can encounter discrimination everywhere. If it takes place within certain legal relations as in the workplace, in insurance, in education, healthcare or the housing market, it can be possibly countered by legal means.
